Capacity Addition (Generation and Transmission):
I. Thermal capacity of 500 MW has been added during the month of October, 2013 after commissioning of Rihand STPS St. –III, Unit – 6 by NTPC.
II. Hydro capacity of 30 MW has been added during the month of October, 2013 after commissioning of Nimmo Bazgo, HEP, Unit-II & III (each 15 MW) in J&K by NHPC.
III. No Nuclear capacity has been added during the month of October, 2013.
IV. In the transmission sector 313 ckm of 220 kV AC Lines and 98 ckm of 765 kV AC Lines have been laid during the month of October, 2013.
Re-structured APDRP in 11th & 12th Plan:
In re-structured R-APDRP, Part-A projects worth Rs. 5233.65 crore covering all the eligible towns (1398) in the country have already been sanctioned. So far, 70 Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) projects worth Rs. 1574.71 crore have also been sanctioned for Eighteen States/UTs.
Also, 1229 projects worth Rs 30381.46 crore have been approved for Twenty-five States /UTs under Part-B.
Status of RGGVY in 11th & 12th Plan:
As on 31st October, 2013, 1,07, 714 villages have been electrified and free electricity connections have been provided to 213.29 lakh BPL households under RGGVY.
Generation Performance:
The overall generation during the month of October, 2013 was 79,441.37 Million Units (MUs) as compared to 78,526.93 MUs generation achieved during the corresponding month of the last year.
A growth of 31.57% in hydro generation, 13.46% in nuclear generation and 38.71% in imported power from Bhutan have been achieved. However, a negative growth of 12.54% has been noted in thermal generation in the month of October, 2013 as compared to the corresponding month of the last year.
During the month, 1.16% growth was registered in generation as compared to the generation performance of October, 2012.
