Anti-Sri Lanka protests rage in Tamil Nadu


Chennai, March 19 (IANS) Protests continues in Tamil Nadu Tuesday against the alleged atrocities committed on the Sri Lankan Tamils even as the DMK quit the United Progressive Alliance (UPA).
Wholesale vegetable, fruits and flower traders at Koyambedu here downed their shutters demanding action against the Sri Lankan government for the alleged war crimes.
Tamil activists blocked metro train services here demanding amendments to the US resolution against Sri Lanka at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).
Students of New College staged a human chain protest demanding that India should bring a resolution of its own against Sri Lanka in the UNHRC.
Many movie directors sat on hunger protest in Chennai. Music composer Illayaraja joined the agitation.
Tamil activists burnt copies of the American resolution and demonstrated outside Shastri Bhavan, housing several central government offices.
According to reports reaching here, people in Tiruvannamalai district sat on a hunger protest against Colombo.
